GLOBAL WEBINAR SERIES ON BUSINESS INTEGRITYCompanies learn best from their peers. This is the founding principle of the Global Webinar Series on Business Integrity, jointly hosted by UNODC and the UN Global Compact.
The webinars provide a space for dialogue, peer learning, and knowledge exchange, bringing together business practitioners from around the world to share good practices and discuss current challenges in business integrity.
Since its launch in 2022, the series has brought together more than 8,500 participants from 130 countries across its first 10 sessions, making it a unique global platform for companies to connect, learn and advance responsible business practices.
The 2026-2027 editions of the Global Webinar Series on Business Integrity will focus on implementing the new publication An Anti-Corruption Ethics and Compliance Programme for Business: A Practical Guide. The webinars will highlight the Guide’s most innovative features and demonstrate how companies can effectively implement its recommendations. Participants can learn from experiences shared by leading experts and business practitioners.
In an increasingly complex and interconnected business environment, companies face risks that extend beyond traditional compliance and legal requirements. Rapid technological developments, evolving stakeholder expectations, geopolitical uncertainty, climate-related disruptions, and growing regulatory demands require organizations to adopt more integrated and forward-looking approaches. Drawing on An Anti-Corruption Ethics and Compliance Programme for Business: A Practical Guide, this session explores how companies can strengthen anti-corruption ethics and compliance programmes by adopting a transformational governance approach. Participants will examine how integrity can serve as a foundation for sustainability, resilience and long-term business success.

As expectations around business integrity continue to evolve, companies are increasingly required not only to implement anti-corruption ethics and compliance programmes, but also to demonstrate their effectiveness. Robust monitoring and evaluation can help organizations understand whether their programmes are achieving their intended objectives, identify areas for improvement, strengthen organizational culture, and support informed decision-making. Drawing on An Anti-Corruption Ethics and Compliance Programme for Business: A Practical Guide (2026), this session will explore practical approaches to monitoring and evaluation, including the use of indicators, audits, surveys, and other tools to assess programme performance and company culture. Participants will gain insights into how companies can apply structured evaluation frameworks to identify gaps and embed continuous improvement into their compliance systems.

Gender diversity in the workplace has been found to improve business integrity in various ways including fewer instances of misconduct and stronger governance structures. The reverse is true as well – greater integrity, transparency and accountability in the private sector frequently boosts gender diversity and equity in the workplace. Nonetheless, the gender dimensions of business integrity remain insufficiently understood and infrequently integrated into corporate compliance frameworks. Effective whistle-blower protection is essential for detecting misconduct, promoting accountability and strengthening trust within organizations.
This session explored the complexities surrounding whistle-blower protection, exploring the legal frameworks, organizational cultures, and practical strategies that help companies create safe and effective reporting environments. The session featured presentations by UNODC and the UN Global Compact and brought on board experts and practitioners from Colombia, Malaysia and Switzerland who shared their real-life experiences. Commit to developing an effective anti-corruption ethics and compliance programme and a policy on zero-tolerance of corruption. For this purpose, companies should provide a written code of conduct and business leaders should lead by example, providing the "tone from the top". Assess corruption risks with a clearly established process that outlines the purpose of the risk assessment as well as the scope and the roles and responsibilities of everyone in the company. The risk assessment should be conducted periodically to detect and counter new and existing risks. Companies can make use of different resources as a reference point for the risk assessment process such as the Guide for Anti-Corruption Risk Assessment developed by the UN Global Compact. Risks need to be identified and prioritized, so that they can be appropriately managed.

Define policies and proceduresto address risks identified and prioritized in the previous step. A good practice is to develop an action plan based on the risk assessment, including timelines, roles and responsibilities, and measurable targets that allow for periodic follow-up. The most urgent risks should be addressed first. Policies and procedures should also include clear sanctions for violations and wrongdoing.

Once policies are in place, they need to be implemented. For this purpose, responsibilities within the company should be defined and regular communication and training for all employees on the policies conducted. An internal control system should be established with reporting channels to prevent and detect wrongdoing. An anti-corruption ethics and compliance programme is a process of learning and requires continuous improvement. As part of the monitoring, corruption risks should be re-evaluated and policies adjusted as needed. Companies should regularly communicate and report on their anti-corruption, ethics and compliance efforts, while engaging in collective action to advance integrity in the supply chain and wider business environment. Step 6 of the UN Global Compact Management Model encourages companies to produce a Communication on Progress (CoP), which provides a reflection of how the company integrates anti-corruption ethics and compliance into its operations, contributing to broader corporate sustainability efforts.
